LITTLE FIRE ANT
The situation has become increasingly desperate. Because of the severity, BIIG is removing Little Fire Ant everyday from our island communities. This is absolutely essential and one of the main purposes of BIIG.
TRASH
BIIG is essentially an islandwide steward. Therefore the task of cleaning our roadways, beaches, parks, trails, communities etc. of unsightly litter and illegal rubbish dumping sites, is another one of our main responsibilities.
INVASIVES
Invasives are becoming a huge problem for the future of our island. Invasives like himalayan raspberry are extremely invasive and efforts to limit the spread of these invasives in new areas is major priority for us.
RESTORATION
Planting trees and native species for future generations and to protect the delicate ecosystems of our island is another priority of BIIG.
ACCESS & TRAILS
Creating and maintaining access to our public lands is an important priority of BIIG.
Maintaining current access trails, creating new trails, and controlling invasives is vital to protecting Hawaii and our way of life.
DISEASE
Educating our communities about invasive diseases and taking action limiting the spread of these horrible diseases such as Rapid Ohia Death, BBTV, etc. is an extremely important matter to BIIG.
What is BIIG working on?
We are active daily, rain or shine protecting & improving Hawai'i Island.
